My worst fear

I went to McDonald and get a take out small chips today. When I opened the bag, there were barely any chips inside. I turned around and said I want another one. Am I cheap?

He added more chips and gave it back to me with an unfriendly manner.

I thought, can he get a job anywhere else if he can't accept criticism?

I'm not mad at him. My first job was working in McDonald. I worked there cuz I was 15 and I couldn't get a part time job anywhere else. I understand the stressful part of his job.

I once saw a dumb person getting food from McDonald, the chips he got was really small, he pointed at the chips expressing his dissatisfactions, but the staff ignored him cuz he can't converse to them.

I was chit chatting with my students today, I was surprised most of my students' parents were unemployed and are taking aids from the government. A few of them have jobs, one is working as a road work worker, another one is working in fast a food restaurant, another is working as a house wall painter, .

I feel sorry for my students because when they don't know how to do homework, they don't have anyone at home to enquire. They also don't have anyone at home to force them prepare for exams.

I saw a disabled and disfigured homeless female begging for money in the street. I think she's pitiful.

I feel that I'm so lucky and I'm thankful for that.

A lot of people has turned to religion and said that they feel content after having religious beliefs.

I don't understand how do people feel differently after having faith. No offense. I don't have any objections against any religion. To me, it's almost like you believe in something you've never seen or never communicate with.

I have a headache (Almost everyday)

Sometime seeing is not believing and same as the other way around which is not-seeing but believing. That's why there's "faith". You said it yourself that you are lucky to have much more than others. That is maybe why you do not see the important of faith or not knowing the true meaning of faith. One day, when you face serious difficulty in life, you'll know the important of faith. You will understant why one can believe something they can't see. And by the way, it is wrong for you think they don't communicate, they communicate with their heart, through faith. :-)
I am not a religious guy. But I have faith.

Yes, I agree with the part that I've been quite lucky so there's probably why I don't see the importance of faith.

Religion / Faith is probably a very debatable topic

I can definitely attest to your blog. When I went back to Hong Kong during the Christmas time, there were lots of homeless people with cut off limbs which was quite depressing. I'm just glad I live in North America.

Hey Jennifer,

Just surfed by your place from Youtube (I think it was one of your clips that I've encoutered with and you were talking about make-ups)..

Anyways, just to make a comment about your entry on today (Apr. 19th). To answer about your facts/comments, I think kids these days can't take criticism well from others and they do think that they know it all..

So, just to sum up.. I do think we're lucky in ways.. Therefore, when we say things to others, we should think TWICE somehow...

Ryan...
Those are fake or just ppl coming down from CHINA to BEG (Beggers).. They are always around during big holidays (such as Christmas time, Summer Time and other big public timings for tourist).. Some of them were even fine as I witnessed a guy just started off his "DAY" with a plastic bag on his side with a lunchbox in it.. (This makes me have 2nd thoughts about paying beggers around HK)

FYI, they are all located in Tourist areas (Such as TST and Causeway Bay)... Go down to Mongkok and see if you can bump into them at all.. haha..

Anywas, go figure about the "True-ness" to the scene dude... and yes.. glad you're in North America where the Government have free medicals to deal with the poor (not trying to start an argument here.. ok?!)

Yes, I also heard that some of the beggers are fake.

But some of them look so unfortunate and u feel sorry them and still give them money

Hey Gary,

Thanks for pointing that out. There were a bunch of them in Causeway Bay but I vaguely remember seeing too them in TST.

I also remember my cousin telling me how there's a "homeless people" business and how they've mentioned this several times before in the newspapers. I.e. people in China would kidnap people and cut off their limbs and ship them off to Hong Kong to beg for money. I'm not too sure how accurate that is but that's just something my cousin told me. What do you think about that?

Lastly, there's a difference in the health care system between the US and Canada. Canadians get "free" basic health care as opposed to the US where you have to pay to even visit the doctor. But then again, the reason why we get "free" health care is due to the fact that we pay more in taxes (sales, provincial and income tax) as opposed to the US.

Correction on the first sentence as I just noticed an error.

"Thanks for pointing that out. There were a bunch of them in Causeway Bay but I vaguely remember seeing them in TST."

Ryan,

It's correct of what you see or saw in Causeway Bay. However, they still do have a few of them in TST as well as they were being monitored by Police?(I think?)

As with regards to the "Homeless" Gang/co-operations/Conglomerate (I think the Conglomerate is a bit over-exaggerating).. It's actually true in a sense. They did it in PRC and they're doing it in HK as well since alot of "Kind-Hearted" people/families in HK (such as Jennifer here as well mentioning about her Students.. and NO.. I"m not saying it's a bad thing that you're creating such a blog space in expressing.. Ok JEN!?! =P) Anyways, back to what I was saying.. It's sad to see them without limbs or anything.. but, you've to put 2nd thoughts about paying them.. Especially, there's a guy standing pretty far away in keeping an eye on the begger..

As with the medical system, I know Canada has a free medical system and US gets the Doc Observations (But, not the pill side right? You have to "PAY" for your medications, etc.) Anyways, HK has to pay for either way (unless you've medi-cares/Medical plans from the Companies.. Some actually have to pre-paid and re-emburse your payment later on)...

Jennifer,
Here's a story I can tell you guys then (Or I kinda told in my previous comment.. and Sorry Jennifer for making this into a discussion board or some sort)

What happened was as following:

One day when I was walking down in TST.. I was my Friend. And both of us were just roaming around town and going to take the MTR to return home or something. Anyways, we were walking in the tunnel (Near the HMV in TST).. A guy dressed in jagged/rugged clothings and a paperbag with a lunchbox + a bottle inside.. Walking infront of us... He was walking towards to the stair area where you can catch a glimpse when you get off or get on the stairs...

Then, he slowly sat down onto the piece of card-board (That was already placed on the floor) and put down his paperbag beside him.. He then pulled one of his arms into his shirt and somehow twisted one of his legs into his pants (This should be categories as a trick in Moscow Carnival or something j/k)..

After that, he started this swinging motion (Back and forth) and that's how he started his "BEGGING"...

At that instant, my friend and I started to "Clapped" as he should be awards with the "Oscar Award" for the best acting/Actor or something..

Another scheme I've seen was the Grandmother or Mother carrying a Child.. Those are sad too.. but, if you look around the surroundings... There'll be a guy smoking around the corner in keeping an eye on them..

So, you can see why I've doubts in paying these people when they begged on streets..

My friend said I shouldn't use the word "pitiful" in this article. He said it is a degrading word. So I just wanna say I feel sorry for those unfortunate people, I didn't mean to degrade them.

Thanks!
